Michael Giberson
joined
the Center in 2008 after 17 years as a consultant on energy economics &
regulatory policy issues in the Washington D.C. area. Over the course of his
career he has worked on projects ranging from post-blackout reliability issues
and reactive power policy to price volatility in natural gas markets and energy
industry regulation. He has authored and co-authored numerous articles along
with presentations and reports. In addition to
Energy and Environmental Economics,
Mike also teaches the Center’s
Alternative Energy
courses. Mike’s
research focus for the Center will be on the practical and policy barriers to
bringing renewable energy to market with
additional plans to focus on
tradable permit markets and cap-and-trade emissions regulations. Mike received
his B.A. in Economics from Texas Tech University and both his Economics M.A. and
PhD from George Mason University. He has served on the Editorial Review for The
Energy Journal,
is a member of the American Economic Association and a volunteer in the Falls
Church, VA community.
