Terry McInturff

Terry is the Director of the Center and Assistant Professor of Energy
Commerce. In addition to generally sub par performance of his
administrative duties as Director, he teaches Petroleum Land Management,
Oil & Gas Agreements, International Energy Policy & Law and Energy Finance. He is the sponsor of the World Energy Project.
He began his career in the oil industry in 1975 as an
independent landman, while a student at Texas Tech. In 1979, he moved
to Denver, returning to Texas Tech in 2003.
His professional experience includes private practice in Energy Law, in-house
counsel, landman working in the Rockies, Texas and Louisiana, as well as
international negotiation experience in South America, North Africa and
Central Asia.
Terry has B.S. in Education and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degrees from
Texas Tech University and has
completed post graduate studies in International Business and Environmental
Policy and Management. He has served as an adjunct professor of law and lecturer in
petroleum land management. His only writing efforts are the articles,
"U.S. Energy Policy: If You Don't
Know Where You're Going, Any Road Will Get You There" , "The Dominant
Mineral Estate: Erosion the Sierra Club Doesn't Mind" and a couple of bad
checks. The academic community was more impressed by the bad checks.
He remains licensed to
practice in the State of Colorado, Federal District Court for Colorado and
Southern Ute Tribal Court. He is a member of the Rocky Mountain
Mineral Law Foundation, Independent Petroleum Association of America, American Association
of Professional Landmen, Texas Lyceum Association and Sam's Club.
